What that means in practice

The boats listed here are sold through Viator and GetYourGuide. When you follow a link from one of these pages and go on to book, the platform pays us a share of its own commission. You pay the same fare either way; the price on the booking page is the operator's price, not a marked-up one.

What we are not

We are not a boat operator. We do not run any of these sails, employ any of these skippers or crews, or hold your booking. Your contract is with the operator, through the platform.

We have no connection with the Port of Lisbon, Turismo de Portugal, Turismo de Lisboa, the city council or any boat company.

How boats get listed

Operators cannot pay for placement, position or a badge. A badge on a card is a measured claim of ours: Top rated only on a boat rated 4.9 or higher, Best seller only on the boat with the most reviews, Best value only on the cheapest fare. Today Best seller sits on the 90-minute sunset catamaran, Best value on the one-hour sail from Bom Sucesso, and Top rated on the sunset yacht sail and the wine sail with snacks. Other boats also rate 4.9 or higher; the badge marks two of them rather than every one. A platform's own award is not shown.

The featured boats at the top of the homepage are three different evenings from three operators at three price points: the sunset yacht sail from Belém, the wine-and-history sail from Santo Amaro, and the sunset catamaran from Santo Amaro.

Lisbon By Boat sells two different sails, a daytime one and a sunset one. They are separate products with their own fares and reviews, and each is described from its own page.

Prices, ratings and how current they are

Prices, star ratings and review counts belong to the operators and were taken from their own listings on 28 September 2026. They move, and the figure at checkout is the one that counts. Every fare is quoted in US dollars, the currency the listings were captured in, and is the listing's own per-person from-price, except the private boat, which is priced for the group. A listing's time-limited discount is not shown, because it ends. Cents are dropped, never rounded up.

Sunset times are calculated for Lisbon with the standard solar-position method and rounded to the quarter hour. Where a detail comes from a listing, such as a meeting point, a house rule or what the fare pours, it belongs to that boat.

What we deliberately do not publish

• Sailing that a listing does not promise. Only one listing promises to hoist the sails, and a couple let you help sail; all of them depend on the wind. Travellers on several boats report motoring, so no page promises time under sail.
• A dock the listing does not name. One sunset sail names no marina, so its card names none either; your confirmation will.
• Unlimited wine. No listing says it. Where the wine keeps coming, we say the fare includes wine.
• Dolphins. No listing promises them.
• Hotel pickup. No listing includes it.
